I’m writing this blog to answer customers’ inquiries. Our customers ask often “What is low pH and why is low pH good for skin?”, though Low pH is the widely dispersed word among K-beauty lovers. Before answering the questions, you have to know about pH Levels.

According to the graph above. pH 7 is neutral such as water. Under pH 7 is acidic and over pH 7 is alkaline.
The important thing is Low pH doesn’t indicate strongly acidic in the skincare world. It means slightly acid between pH 5.5~6, similar to your skin’s pH level.
Maintaining pH 5.5~6 is indispensable work to keep your skin healthy because bacteria from outside that threaten skin health are hard to be alive in a slightly acidic environment!
Some cleansers and soap having powerful cleaning ability are alkalinities. Even if they can cleanse makeup or dirt on the skin perfectly, they could irritate and damage the skin barrier. Alkalinity can crush your skin’s normal pH level (5.5~6) and it takes some time to come back to the original pH level.
In a nutshell, the ideal skin has a pH 5.5 level, and to keep it healthy and prevent future breakouts, we need to use the slightly acidic cleanser, close to your real skin pH level.
